We are pleased to announce that the North Shore Mother Visiting Partnership (NS MVP) has resumed in-home visits to support new mothers and families. Our team of Public Health Nurses is once again able to provide free, personalized support through a one-time home visit to parents any time from birth to the baby's first birthday.
NS MVP is a free and voluntary program that empowers parents with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to support the healthy development of their babies. All parents who reside in the program's service area of Beverly, Danvers, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Manchester, Marblehead, Peabody, Rockport, Salem, Swampscott, and Wenham are eligible for a home visit, regardless of income, health insurance or circumstance.
During the visit, a Public Health Nurse will:
• Monitor the health of mom and baby
• Provide education on topics like nutrition, safety, and child development as well as training on how to perform infant CPR
• Offer a gift bag filled with essentials like diapers, wipes, educational resources, and other
freebies
• Screen for postpartum mood disorders and make appropriate referrals
• Connect the family to helpful community resources
• Provide overall support and guidance during the exciting but often challenging transition to welcoming a new family member
